P6 Interests Assessment - Passions & Disinterests

The P6 Interests Assessment analyzes our style, values-based passions and disinterests. Unlike other ‘interests’ assessments, it analyzes 12 data points compared to the typical 6-8 data points. Critically, it also shows our interests in both our work and non-work life, since these often differ significantly for many people. It also identifies our ‘field of interests’ for the types of jobs and careers that best match our personal satisfaction and success goals. Lastly, it can help us avoid mismatched roles that lead to distress, burnout, rust-out, or apathy.

What do Personal Interests have to do with business?

Attracting, developing, and retaining employees is more challenging than ever. Research shows that just 13% of workers view their work as meaningful. You do the math… that’s a whopping 87% who are unsatisfied.

The TYPE of work that is most meaningful, interesting, and motivating to a person indicates…

1A longer-term interest in that line of work.

2Provides a predictable pattern of work, tasks, and jobs that motivate a person (higher interest).

3Also indicates the type of work, tasks, and jobs that may de-motivate a person (lower interest).

Two Secrets to Retaining Great
Employees and Avoiding Burnout.

A complete understanding of an employee’s personal interests will help them to achieve both Success + Satisfaction in their career. Thus, avoiding burnout.

SECRET #1
Career success is characterized by a person’s achievement of goals, productivity and increasing competence. When companies help their employees have “winning” careers, the hard work and long hours are often secondary to their sense of achievement.

SECRET #2
Career satisfaction is characterized by a passion for their job and a commitment to their organization. These employees help create and foster an environment characterized by high morale, respect and strong relationships.

Work and Non-Work Interests
are Essential to Understand.

Knowing the activities that most Interest and motivate an employee, and those which least interest and motivate an employee, help us to increase their personal satisfaction in life, and in the workplace. We do this by focusing on the activities that are most preferred while minimizing those that are undesirable.

An Assessment that Actually Helps Retain Employees.

As we strive to improve the success and satisfaction of our clients, we can also help them to retain their employees. It starts with understanding their career aspirations which, unfortunately, many managers avoid. Additionally, it is essential to understand whether an employee is interested in advancing their career at the onset of their employment.
